Nominations

Simply Voting offers a simple and easy-to-use solution for collecting nominations ahead of an election: Nomination Elections.

A nomination election consists of a nomination period during which electors can nominate any elector for one or more position(s) on a ballot, followed optionally by a confirmation period during which nominees can accept or decline their nomination(s). During the confirmation period, nominees may optionally provide a candidate statement and photo that will be displayed on the final ballot.

Election administrators with access to Results can approve or disapprove nominations, and populate the final election ballot in a single easy step.

Important notes:

  • Candidates may accept nomination for a maximum of one (1) position on the ballot. If a candidate is nominated for more than one position, accepting one nomination automatically declines any others.

  • Candidates may nominate themselves.

  • Nominees will not be automatically notified when they are nominated, but you may schedule email blasts targeted to those who have not yet accepted their nomination.

  • All electors must have unique full names. If some electors have duplicate names, consider including their middle names in order to differentiate them before importing them to the election. Electors with duplicated names will be automatically ignored upon import.

  • If allowed, nominees can provide a candidate statement of up to 10,000 characters. You may define a lower character limit, if desired.

  • If allowed, nominees can upload a candidate headshot not exceeding 5MB in size.

  • Nomination elections support Segmentation logic (provided this premium feature is enabled on your account). Electors voting for a segmented position may only nominate electors who are eligible to vote on that same position.

  • Once created, a nomination election cannot be changed to a regular election. Similarly, a regular election cannot be converted to a nomination election once created.
